Supporting School Readiness Online
School readiness is especially important in this year of the pandemic.
We are researchers from McGill University, who are studying children’s readiness for school especially when engaged with digital materials.
If your child can communicate in English and is between the ages of 4 and 5, they can participate in our study.
The study includes three online sessions, approximately 30 minutes each.
Your child will:
- Participate in activities that test early reading skills, attention, control, and memory.
- Share a story, retell the story, and answer questions about the story.
You will receive information about aspects of your child’s school readiness. Your child will receive a $20 Amazon Gift Card and recommendations for appropriate digital apps or storybooks for preschool aged children. We will learn about effective strategies to support school readiness online.
This study is being conducted under the supervision of Professor Susan Rvachew, Ph.D., S-LP (C) at the McGill School of Communication Sciences and Disorders. For more information and to find out how to participate, please contact Dahlia Thompson (PhD Candidate) at dahlia.thompson@mail.mcgill.ca.
