I am a Ph.D. student in clinical neuropsychology at the University of Montreal, working under the direction of Dr. Isabelle Peretz. I am interested to know how musical prodigies reach very high levels of achievement so early in life. I ask whether they have better memory or general cognitive abilities, different practice habits, particular personality traits, atypical sensory processing (as in absolute pitch or synesthesia), and whether they tend to aggregate in families.
