Study on emotional modulation of the startle reflex

Please note that we no longer accept participants for this experience. Thank you for your interest!

Prof. Sylvie Hébert’s Audition lab is currently looking for native French speakers to take part in a study on emotional modulation of the startle reflex.

1)     You are between 18 to 30 years old, or between 55 to 70 years old ?

2)     You are in good health physically and mentally ?

3)     You have good hearing capacities (no tinnitus, no hearing aid, etc.) ?

We are currently studying the emotional modulation of the startle reflex in the Quebec native french population. The study includes a hearing test of both ears and a task measuring the startle reflex  following the presentation of some sounds in combination with pictures with an emotional content. To do so, 3 electrodes will be placed under the eyes and the muscle contraction will be recorded. The experience will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. All the procedures take place at the BRAMS Laboratory (Université de Montréal), 1430 boul. Mont Royal, Suite 0-120, Outremont.
