Auditory-motor integration and musical groove

Abstract : Groove, the pleasurable desire to move to music, is compelling example of auditory-motor integration in the human brain.  In this talk we will explore the musical features and neural mechanisms underlying the groove response and discuss how musical and motor prediction contribute to the groove percept.

Background: Work in the Penhune lab focuses on auditory-motor integration and learning, with a particular emphasis on musical expertise.  We use a variety of approaches, including structural and functional brain imaging, brain stimulation and pupillometry.
