Presentations by Dr. Marcelo Wanderley and Dr. Jean Rouat
Dr. Marcelo Wanderley: Current Research Directions at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology – CIRMMT
Dr. Jean Rouat: Development of an audition and vision sensorial substitution research platform
Dr. Marcelo Wanderley, CIRMMT Director, Music Technology – Department of Music Research at McGill University, will describe the novel axis structure and suggest possible ways to increase the CIRMMT collaboration with BRAMS/CRBLM in this context.
CIRMMT (www.cirmmt.org) has updated its research axes to reflect its current research directions and to increase collaboration between its members. The new 4-axes structure, to be in place in April 2014, is the following:
Axis I: Instrument, devices and systems
Axis II: Musical information research
Axis III: Cognition, perception and movement
Axis IV: Expanded musical practice.
Dr. Jean Rouat, Département de génie électrique et de génie informatique, Faculté de génie, Université de Sherbrooke, will describe the research platform that he is setting up during his sabbatical at CIRMMT. He will describe some of the already existing modules which rely on neuro-computational signal processing of images and sounds. He will also discuss the possible collaborations in the realization of the remaining modules and evaluation of the sensorial substitution systems to be designed with the assistance of that platform.
These talks will be given in English.
