Fidaa Akrout

I’m a PhD student in Psychology under the supervision of Professor Isabelle Peretz. My research sits at the crossroads of the social psychology of music, neuroscience, and linguistics, with a particular focus on how music—especially choir singing—can support second language learning, social integration, and well-being among newcomers. I’m also exploring the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance and streamline second language assessment.

Beyond my academic work, I’m a musician—singer, songwriter, composer, and violinist—with a deep passion for the role of music in building connections across cultures and lived experiences.
